Protection Rubber Sheets
protection rubber bellow is a form of expansion joint which is made flexible in order to endure heat and various other pressures from a synthetic elastomer. The elastomer is moulded into a spherical shape with metal floating flanges for better adjustment.
The moulded shape of the bellow is ideal for compensation for misalignment along with neutralizing the movement, reducing the noise and vibrations inside the pipelines. They work efficiently in dampening the sound and vibrations and can be used under a wide range of circumstances and conditions such as under water or in contact with oils, chemicals, gases or in the food industry.
The flexible rubber bellows are designed to take load and pressure from all directions:
• Axially along the movement of elongation and compression
• Laterally when there is offset movement.
• Angularly when the movement is around the bend.
TYPES OF PROTECTION RUBBER BELLOW
There are a variety of manufactured bellows during various industrial purposes. Some of them are:

INSTALLATION OF PROTECTION RUBBER BELLOW
• The installation of the protection rubber bellow is fairly simple and can be done using the following steps:
-
• For the process of installation the elbow should be compressed and stretched slightly to remove any form of misalignments
-
• If the rubber has to be stretched during installation it is advisable that the collar of the sealing ring is kept in position.
-
• Load the necessary compression required for installation between the flanges.
-
• Install the bellow in such a manner that the manufacturing date is clearly visible on top for further references.
-
• Try to insert the bolts from rubber bellow side. However, in case of difficulty loose threaded end must be kept out of interference zone for
maximum benefits and movement of the bellow.
PRECAUTIONS BEFORE AND AFTER THE INSTALLATION OF THE PROTECTION RUBBER BELLOW
• The bellow is made of rubber and some precautions are necessary to avoid early wear and tear during the installation procedure. Some key points that might need the consideration of the engineer installing it are:
-
• Avoid using sharp tools as it might damage the rubber of the bellow.
-
• Installation of the bolts should be performed crosswise.
-
• Apply extra force to tighten the bolts by hand.
-
• Fasten each bolt until it is secure and immovable.
